Did You Know?
In addition to the retreats and programs offered by our Spiritual Growth staff, the Jesuit Center for Spiritual Growth welcomes Catholic and other ecumenical groups who are looking for a beautiful setting to conduct their own group meetings.
Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding
and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.
You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
That is enough for me.
—St. Ignatius of Loyola
O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you (Psalm 63:1)
We thirst for God: we desire to grow in our relationship with the Lord of Life. Spiritual direction is an ancient ministry of the Christian community; its purpose is to help individuals deepen their relationship with God. It is a ministry that the staff and associate staff of the Jesuit Center for Spiritual Growth offer individuals who want to grow spiritually and who are seeking companionship in their spiritual journey. The director helps the directee to look honestly at her/his relationship with God and to notice and respond to God’s communication in prayer and life experiences. The focus on the directee’s experiences of God distinguishes spiritual direction from psychological counseling and therapy. We enjoy providing spiritual direction and consider it a vital part of our ministry here at the Center, both in the context of retreats and as an ongoing practice. Our directors are well experienced in companioning individuals of various faith traditions.
