Message from the Director |
||
Dear Friends, As we begin a new program year at the Jesuit Center all of us on the Spiritual Growth staff are hoping that our scheduling will provide opportunities to help you to deepen your life in the foundational love of God and then to bring that love into a world so desperately in need of it. “Discover for yourself and then share the treasure with others” encapsulates so much of what Ignatian spirituality is about. Indeed, the experience of entering into the prayer and spiritual direction of a retreat can be life transforming, as well as participation in a scripture-based weekend retreat or workshop or in coming to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the discernment process in our everyday lives. |

We are especially pleased this year to be welcoming back to the Center a cherished friend, gifted presenter and former Director of our spirituality programs and staff, Fr. George Aschenbrenner, SJ. Scripture scholar, Sandra Schneiders, IHM, and Ignatian scholar, Fr. Timothy Gallagher O.M.V., also will be providing rich fare for reflection, thought and prayer. Our training program for spiritual directors will be taking on a two –tiered effort this year as we facilitate Year One again for new participants and Year Three for those seasoned participants who will be engaged in directing the 19th Annotation Retreat with supervision. One of our staff members, Fr. Bill Sneck SJ, will be taking sabbatical time during this coming year. Some of this time will be spent in personal renewal at Sangre de Cristo in New Mexico and the remainder in writing a book about the Wernersville tradition of communicating spirituality. We are happy for Bill that he has been given this opportunity. Needless to say, he will be sorely missed. As I enter into my sixteenth year of ministry here at the Center my heart is filled with gratitude for the many ways in which God’s Spirit is made manifest through the rich variety of participants who have graced this sacred space, and through the generosity of all those who help to keep the flame of Ignatian spirituality alive and well through their generous financial support. Please hold the Jesuit Center in your prayer and be assured of our continual remembrance of you. Sincerely, ![]() |
